Description de la mission
Kiribati is located in the pacific region, an extremely remote island nation facing significant environmental and economic challenges exacerbated by climate change.. MSF is undertaking a community integrated planetary health med-ops program in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS). These activities focus on community/primary health care and address health care waste management. The project provides MSF with an opportunity to learn through a new model of care and innovation.
Main Purpose
As the most senior MSF responsible person based in the Kiribati, the DHoM will be supporting the Head of Mission through delegated tasks and responsibilities, managing the day-to- day functioning of the capital office and team, ensuring contacts with local authorities according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to contribute to the optimal functioning of the mission.
Responsabilités
Responsible for leading the planning and finalization of the project strategy/proposals, annual plan, budget, and related policy frameworks. Monitor the annual plan to ensure alignment with MSF strategies and mission policies. Manage two separate projects focused on planetary health: 1) Health Care Waste Management (HCWM) with external partners, and 2) Climate Adapted Communities and Health Care (CCHC), ensuring project implementation and handling unforeseen scenarios. Provide a comprehensive overview of the HCWM project to ensure strong institutional memory for MSF and facilitate future replication in other missions. Develop and lead the mission’s advocacy strategy. Complete an EPREP strategy for emergency response in Pacific Islands, in close collaboration with the Coordination Team. Proactively represent MSF in Kiribati in the absence of the Coordination Team, liaising with the HoM. Engage in continuous networking with key stakeholders, including government officials, aid agencies, embassies, and UN agencies. Coordinate closely with the Medco for emergency management.
Votre profil
Essential
· English B2 minimum
· Very strong experience in networking and negotiation
· Strong interest and sensitivity to planetary health
· Minimum five years experience in Management/Coordinator roles, with at least three years as a Program Manager / Project Manager/Coordinator
· Experience in development project context
· Experience in developing countries
· Computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
· Strategic vision, Service Orientation
· Leadership People Management and Development
· Teamwork and Cooperation
Desirable
· International experience across different countries
· Knowledge in water hygien and sanitation process
· University degree (project management, public health or international relations)
· Experience in the Pacific region / or remote locations
